The Great Meta-Confrontation of the 21st Century

The age of secular materialism is condemning our living planet to death, and the Left is failing to define a vision of humanity that reclaims the spirit of life and the future. The deafening silence of liberalism and the transparent spectre of “the woke” are accomplices to techno-fascism’s rise as we hurtle towards extinction.

What will it take for us to reclaim our care for this world? For each other? To draw a line in the sand against the same stale ideologies that have bought us to this brink of global suicide, and to work together towards something greater?

Our age can be defined by a war of the ‘human’ vs the ‘anti-human’. This war has various fronts – the battle over AI, the battle against big tech’s erosion of democracy, and the battle over the destruction of the biosphere. The world is dying, and core to it all is political corruption married to extreme concentrations of wealth. It is a system that holds infinite growth at all cost to be sacred, and the human to be profane.

This event is not about rehashing some secular reformist left “concern”, or getting lost in an endless post-modernist sludge of constipated critique. It is about exploding into a new passionate love for the human – in all our fullness and glory. It seeks to wage an attack on the dead ideological flatlands of ‘technology as god, instrumentalism as god, and power as god’. It seeks instead to build a new way forward.

This evening’s event consists of 3 provocations on what it means to be human. This is followed by responses, before splitting into break-out groups and discussing among ourselves, then feedback. This will be followed by networking and discussion.

Things do not end there. This event is bought to you by a coalition of groups explicitly working for revolutionary change in the face of extinction. They will take feedback on new concrete ideas on how we resist the end times, imagine a future worth living for, and provide pathways to collective action.

We believe in fostering an ethos of nonviolence in ourselves and in the world that we interact with.

To understand the philosophy of nonviolence as envisioned by Gandhi, Tolstoy, and Martin Luther King Jr., we need a space where we can discuss these ideas and explore their meaning for the present era and 4 Billion Dead.

You felt this summer. Across the world it was felt.

The heat that didn’t break. The grass that turned to straw then dust. The rivers running low. Heatwaves killing thousands of people.

It will get worse. Not might. Will. Every year temperatures will rise and more people will die.

Last year the truth came out. The British insurance industry produced a report on the climate crisis, predicting at least 4 billion deaths at 3C of global warming – possible by mid century.

4 billion. Half the Earth’s population. Dead.

Sit with that number for a moment. There are no words.

We are not here to persuade you. We are here to say we need face this together. To ask what a life of integrity looks like knowing what we now know.

A new social movement is starting, set up by people who have run the biggest UK campaigns of the past decade. If you are feeling disillusioned with societies ability to deal with a future that is now locked in to some degree, then come to along to the next 4 Billion Dead International Public Call. Come and hear how a group of people are attempting to foster a culture that is just a little bit different.

Speaker 1 – Geneviéve Walker – A Global systems Architect and Strategist, Geneviéve is one the most prominent voices for sustainable infrastructure change on the airwaves today. She is the CEO of GCRIN and SOVRIS, which build and develop unique technologies to help governments better manage and respond to the climate crisis. Her interview recently with Nick Breeze has gained over 25,000 views in the past 2 weeks alone. She will be here to outline to us the drastic risks that societies everywhere are facing in this new age of climate destruction.

We find ourselves in unprecedented times. In a world where 4 Billion deaths is actually being spoke about as a realistic possibility this century. How are we supposed to feel about this? How are we supposed to process the loss; the grief; the overwhelmingness that nothing will ever be the same again.

If you are struggling with coming to terms with the stark realities we are faced with then maybe this is the right place for you. Finding and connecting with other people in that same position can be a beautiful experience. Whether you feel like you want to give these emotions a voice, or simply to sit and draw comfort from the presence of others who get it.
