October 21st International Public Call | with Roger Hallam and Ruth Cerezo Mota

Speaker 1 – Ruth Cerezo Mota – Climatologist and climate modeller at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). She specializes in regional climate modelling, precipitation, extreme rainfall, droughts, heat waves, and climate change. She was a Lead Author of Chapter 8 (“Water Cycle Changes”) of the IPCC’s Sixth Assessment Report (AR6), Working Group I, which deals with the physical science of climate change.
Speaker 2 – Roger Hallam – Co-founder of some of the most prominent social movements in recent UK history, Roger has been committed to social justice for decades. He was a researcher in the science of mass mobilisation at Kings College London and is the founder of The 4 Billion Dead Project.

We are not here to persuade you. We are here to say we need face this together. To ask what a life of integrity looks like knowing what we now know.
A new social movement is starting, set up by people who have run the biggest UK campaigns of the past decade. Following a successful initial meeting there seems to be a great need to come together on this area of massive importance. So we are holding a second larger get together. Please share the details with people and networks that may be interested. Towards the end of the evening we will talk about the various pathways that are now getting to create a new mass movement around these themes.
So what is going on?
The age of secular materialism is condemning our living planet to death, and the Left is failing to define a vision of humanity that reclaims the spirit of life and the future. The deafening silence of liberalism and the transparent spectre of “the woke” are accomplices to techno-fascism’s rise as we hurtle towards extinction.
What will it take for us to reclaim our care for this world? For each other? To draw a line in the sand against the same stale ideologies that have bought us to this point of global suicide, and to work together towards something rooted in our love for life?
Our age can be defined by a war of the ‘human’ vs the ‘anti-human’. This war has various fronts – the battle over AI, the battle against big tech’s erosion of democracy, and the battle over the destruction of the biosphere. The world is dying, and core to it all is political corruption married to extreme concentrations of wealth. It is a system that holds infinite growth at all cost to be sacred, and the human to be profane.
This event is not about rehashing some secular reformist left “concern”, or getting lost in an endless post-modernist sludge of constipated critique. It is about exploding into a new passionate love for the human – in all our fullness and glory. It seeks to wage an attack on the dead ideological flatlands of ‘technology as god, instrumentalism as god, and power as god’. It seeks instead to build a new reenchanted way of being.
This evening’s event consists of 3 provocations on what it means to be human. This is followed by responses, before splitting into break-out groups and discussing among ourselves, then feedback. This will be followed by networking and discussion.
And as mentioned – things do not end there. This event is bought to you by a coalition of groups explicitly working for revolutionary change in the face of extinction. We will take feedback on new concrete ideas on how we resist the end times, imagine a future worth living for, and provide pathways to collective action.

Speaker 1 – Geneviéve Walker – A Global systems Architect and Strategist, Geneviéve is one the most prominent voices for sustainable infrastructure change on the airwaves today. She is the CEO of GCRIN and SOVRIS, which build and develop unique technologies to help governments better manage and respond to the climate crisis. Her interview recently with Nick Breeze has gained over 25,000 views in the past 2 weeks alone. She will be here to outline to us the drastic risks that societies everywhere are facing in this new age of climate destruction.

Love, Stillness, and Restraint – The teachings of Nonviolence
Every 2 weeks at 5pm UK from 14th October
4 Billion Dead exists out of a concern for the possibility of extreme violence this century due to out of control rising temperatures.
We believe in fostering an ethos of non-violence in ourselves and in the world that we interact with.
To understand the philosophy of non-violence as envisioned by Gandhi, Tolstoy, and Martin Luther King Jr., we need a space where we can discuss these ideas and explore their meaning for the present era and 4 Billion Dead.

Listening Circles – Every Two Weeks
We find ourselves in unprecedented times. In a world where 4 Billion deaths is actually being spoke about as a realistic possibility this century. How are we supposed to feel about this? How are we supposed to process the loss; the grief; the overwhelmingness that nothing will ever be the same again.
If you are struggling with coming to terms with the stark realities we are faced with then maybe this is the right place for you. Finding and connecting with other people in that same position can be a beautiful experience. Whether you feel like you want to give these emotions a voice, or simply to sit and draw comfort from the presence of others who get it.

James Hansen – Predicting +1.7°C in 2026-2027 Super El Nino
“The Nino index (Nino3.4) has just reached Nino-neutral, but global SST (sea surface temperature) has matched the highest level for this date, which was achieved during the last El Nino. Super warming is clear. Look for a global temperature soon of at least +1.7C, even if the “Super” El Nino turns out to be half-baked. The University of Maine Climate Change Institute has a spectacular interactive graphic that they update daily. There Is No “Next Economy” If we ruin this one, well, then that was it
Bad news is, that there is no next economy: so called “renewables” and batteries use the same raw materials and rely on the same processes as the old, fossil fuel economy. If anything the new, electrified economy has become even more reliant on oil than its “predecessor” ever was. No oil, no green energy either.
